Tropical Gardening: Kona’s 52nd annual Coffee Cultural Festival a big success

Coffee cherry in Kona usually ripens in the fall but erratic rainfall patterns have recently confused the flowering cycle in some locations. The normally dry winters stress trees so that flowering occurs in very early spring. This year’s dry summer may cause an early flowering if followed by sufficient rain in November. As the 52st annual Kona Coffee Cultural Festival comes to an end, the hard work and aloha of the coffee community concludes with today’s “A Taste of Kona.”
