KEA‘AU — Kealakehe softball collected 12 hits and 10 RBI in its 12-1 win over KS-Hawai‘i on Saturday afternoon on the road.
Six different Waveriders notched a base hit, including Rihanna Joaquin — who had four hits go along with two stolen bases. Teammate Freeda Tosie added three hits of her own, including a solo home run in the seventh inning, a double and a single. Tosie’s play helped spark Kealakehe’s strong final inning, in which they recorded five runs.
Emalia Emmsley put on a winning-pitcher performance, allowing two hits and one run across five innings — striking out four batters. Summer Wellington closed the game in the circle for the Waveriders, striking out three in the final two innings.
The Warriors’ side was much quieter, as the east-side school had just five collective base hits. KS-Hawai‘i also had six errors to Kealakehe’s zero.
Other Waveriders that reached base were Emmsley, Katherine Keizer, Kelsi Clarke and Zukeika Isisaki.
Kealakehe will enjoy the rest of the work week off before returning to the diamond at 11 a.m. Saturday at home against Kohala. The Warriors won’t return to action until 1 p.m. March 12 — slated to take on local rival Kea‘au on the Cougars’ home field.

Kea‘au softball routed Ka‘u in its season-opening matchup, starting the year at 1-0.
The Cougars will next play KS-Hawai‘i on March 12 at home.
The Trojans will look to redeem themselves against Hilo at 11 a.m. Friday at home.
KONA – PAHOA RESCHEDULED
Saturday’s match between Konawaena and Pahoa was postponed due to construction at Konawaena High School. A make-up date is to be announced.
