Born in Keaau, he was a retired machinist for a mainland company who also worked for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co., member of the Puna Covenant Church in Keaau, Hawaii, retired U.S. Air Force technical sergeant and U.S. Navy veteran. Visitation 5-6 p.m. today at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Cremation to follow at Homelani Crematory. Memorial service 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, at Puna Covenant Church in Keaau. Roscoe “Rocky” Albert Shorey IV, 42, of Washougal, Wash., died March 30 on Mount St. Helens in Washington. Born in Kona, he was a certified personal trainer, skydiving instructor, motorcyclist and mountaineer, and business graduate from Washington State University, who volunteered and mentored youth for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and numerous outdoors organizations. Born in Malama, Puna, she was a retired van driver for the county Office of Aging, member of Opihikao Congregational Church, Kalapana Mauna Kea Congregational Church, New Hope Puna.
