Philanthropic Legacy Dinner Series commences at MKBH

The Legacy Dinner Series will kick off Nov. 25 on Mauna Kea Beach Hotel’s North Pointe Lawn. Proceeds from this and future series events will help fund a culinary or hospitality scholarship administered by the University of Hawaii Foundation.

‘Homestead Holiday Market’ coming to town

From 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 25, the Kuhio Hale Farmer’s Market will feature organic produce grown by homestead farmers in Pu’ukapu, cut flowers and plants, Christmas wreaths and arrangements, locally made crafts, jellies, chips, household items, jewelry, baby slings, Iokia Lomilomi in Kuhio Hale Hall. Entertainment will be provided by Marcelino Palafox and Friends.

Spencer Park closed Wednesday and Thursday

The Department of Parks and Recreation will close Spencer Park temporarily two days this week to maintain and repair the park without exposing park patrons to potential hazards associated with large-scale maintenance work. The park is scheduled to re-open Friday.

Mauna Kea Quilters meeting scheduled

Anyone interested can attend the monthly meeting from 9:30 a.m.-noon Nov. 11 at Thelma Parker Memorial Library’s meeting room. It begins with a business meeting, followed by show-and-tell and sharing of new ideas and techniques.

Trick or treat at Parker Ranch Center tomorrow

Participating stores at Parker Ranch Center will give out treats to children dressed in costume from 5-7 p.m. on Halloween. Look for signs in store windows to indicate where to trick or treat.

Training notification for Waikii Ranch area

Beginning tomorrow through Nov. 8, Marines will use CH-53 aircraft to move folks from LZ Dove (KMA) to locations within the Restricted Area. Specific impacts from this training on the Waikii Ranch area are uncertain.
