Waimea Nature Park volunteer day approaching

Residents are invited to participate in this Saturday’s work day from 9 a.m.-noon at Waimea Nature Park, Ulu La’au. A tour of the park is offered for first timers. There are jobs for all ages and abilities. No knowledge of Hawaiian plants is necessary, as training can be provided.

Focuses Saturday will include regular maintenance of mowing, weed whacking, hand weeding and some greenhouse work. There is also a mao hau hele bed, a black wattle below the meadow and a small eucalyptus near the streamside trail that need to be removed.

A snack of fresh fruit and homemade cookies will be served at noon. Another volunteer day is scheduled March 24.
