“Seeds & Vermicomposting in Your Learning Garden” is the title of an upcoming workshop to be offered by Hawaii Island School Garden Network from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 10 at Malai’i: The Culinary Garden of Waimea Middle School. The garden’s director, Amanda Rieux, will lead the event.
Seed expert Ilana Stout will share about the miracle of seeds, pollination biology, seed saving basics and her work on seed story, including tools that schools and communities can use to help collect and preserve Hawaii agricultural history. Donna Mitts will demonstrate how to make a wormbin, care for worms and harvest wormcastings to use in the garden.
The gathering is an opportunity to share successes, ask questions and share resources. The workshop is $20 per person. RSVP to Amanda at email@example.com.
