The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended a high surf advisory for Big Island shores through 6 p.m. Saturday.
The service forecast waves ranging from 6 to 10 feet for the island’s north-, east- and south-facing shores. The service also cautioned that some sets may be higher.
A high surf advisory means high surf could affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion, according to the service.
