No tsunami triggered by Solomon Islands earthquake

No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-7.8 earthquake that struck Saturday morning in the Solomon Islands.

The earthquake occurred at 10:15 a.m. Hawaii time, according to the center.

Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no threat to Hawaii, according to the center.
