Search drags on: Police continue manhunt for man wanted in Kona shooting

Hawaii Police officers responded to the Kailua-Kona Lowe's after receiving a tip that Walter Gomes III might be in the area around 11 a.m Friday. As an officer (pictured) stood at the main entrance holding a rifle and scanning the parking lot, other officers checked the parking lot and vehicles as well as the store for any sign of the wanted man. The sighting was ultimately not confirmed, one of the officers said before leaving the scene about 25 minutes later. In all at least seven patrol cars responded to the report. Lowe's remained open throughout. (West Hawaii Today)

HAWI — A man wanted for a shooting in Kailua-Kona has been on the lam for three days with the police pursuit stretching from Kona to North Kohala.
